Dyfed-Powys Police are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious, has information about the burglary, or thinks they may have seen the missing dogs to get in touch.
This incident comes at a time when dog theft is a growing concern across the UK.
Research from Direct Line Pet Insurance estimates that 1,626 dogs were stolen across the UK in 2025, more than four a day. Only 344 were reported as recovered, so nearly four out of five were not returned to their owners.
The theft also highlights how pet theft laws differ across the UK.
Following years of campaigning by Pet Theft Reform, the Pet Abduction Act 2024 introduced a specific offence of stealing dogs and cats in England and Northern Ireland, carrying a maximum five-year prison sentence. However, the legislation does not apply in Wales, where stealing a pet remains an offence under the Theft Act 1968.
The Welsh Government has said it focused on other animal welfare laws, but campaigners and Senedd members have asked for similar protection.
